18 Wheeler (Band) $47.99 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! 18 Wheeler were a Scottish rock band active in the early 1990s, consisting of Sean Jackson (vocals, guitar), David Keenan (guitar, vocals), Alan Hake (bass), and Neil Halliday (drums). Original bassist Chris “Pint Glass” Stewart left before any recordings were made, and was replaced by original drummer Hake. Keenan left in 1994 to start his own group, the Telstar Ponies and was replaced by guitarist Steven Haddow. In the same year, the band released their first album Twin Action on Creation Records and in 1995 they released their second album, Formanka. Their third album Year Zero, which saw them take a more experimental sample based approach, was released in early 1997. The remixed single “Stay” was given mainstream radio play and gave them their only UK Top 75 hit single (peaking at #59 in March). They were subsequently dropped by Creation during the recording of what was to be their fourth studio release. Although Alan Hake has stated that Creation Records allowed the band to keep the master tapes to this album, no plans to officially release it have materialised. |

To explain, let’s take a quick detour to the late 1940s:Before hillbillies began co-opting the blues, amps came in two varieties: those with triode (having three active electrodes) power valves and those with pentode (containing five active electrodes) power valves. Triode valves, which predated the pentodes, provide what many guitarists agree is a softer tone. Pentodes produce a slightly more urgent, aggressive sound. This Bugera amp runs on power pentode tubes, but include a Mode switch that lets you run the power section as if it had triode tubes that is, at about 40 percent less power. This gives you the option of going beyond old-school straight to elderly school. The old amps that defined electric guitar tone were often single-channel amps. These amplifiers offer that same vintage clean, but add a second channel for modern high-gain tones. To begin, take your pick of the Bright or Normal inputs, then twist the three-band EQ (Bass, Mid, Treble) and Presence control to sculpt your signature sound. This also fits the description of a great 7-string pickup, if the problems associated with active guitar pickups sterile sound and limited headroom could be eliminated. The DP719 D Activator 7 bridge model does just that. It has the same loud yet clean sound as the best active humbuckers, and killer harmonics. The low B string is all about attack, not mud. It responds instantly to hard or light picking. In a word, it rocks.
